"The superbly written thriller, Beginner’s Luck by M. J. Furtek, takes us to a world where it doesn’t get dark. The author describes the places and scenes with such clarity that you feel you are there. As the author introduces different characters, he clearly details their personalities and their connection to the people in the story. The construction of the plot provides the storyline with twists and turns relating to mountain roads you take through the fjords during the adventure. A few red herrings are in the story to lead you in the wrong direction and encourage you to come up with the wrong conclusion, especially at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, and I hope there will be a follow-up book; I will look out for any future titles from the author. Read this exciting thriller and get involved in the mayhem that follows."

"I really enjoyed this book, fast moving and exciting, with lots of twists and turns set in Iceland. I honestly struggled to put it down, it’s gripping! And it leaves you wanting to know more about Hildur, the main protagonist who’s a bit of a mystery. The author managed to make me care about Hildur, vulnerable and badass at the same time, so I hope to find out more about her soon."

"I discovered M. J. Furtek's debut novella through a trusted FaceBook group with excellent taste in music and books. As an avid reader I was delighted for the opportunity to read a story from an emerging author. I was expecting it to be good but was blown away by the quality of the writing and the intricacies of the story arch. My only disappointment was the book's length; I wanted it to go on and on. I trust there will be more from M.J. Furtek and I will be among the first in line to read whatever he writes."

"For a debut book this is outstanding, a fast paced thriller that keeps your attention. Not only is it refreshing to have a main character who is not the stereotypical white male assassin, but also it gives an uncomplicated view of the world of professional assassins. The descriptions of the Icelandic landscape make this novel come alive with the author's intrinsic knowledge and love of the country."
